James Gunn’s Superman is coming to theaters in July 2025, but when will the first trailer drop? We still don’t know, but writer-director James Gunn, who is also the co-head of DC Studios, teased when it may arrive, and also spoke about why he’s so excited for the world to see David Corenswet as Superman.
“It won’t be too long before we see a trailer, but it also won’t be too soon,” Gunn said at New York Comic Con, as relayed by The Hollywood Reporter. Gunn had previously said the first trailer for Superman will not arrive until 2025.
Gunn went on to provide an update on how the film itself is coming along, saying the team is currently “deep in the process of editing.” Principal photography wrapped in July 2024, but the movie no doubt has extensive CG and other post-production elements to get ready before the film arrives.
He also talked about how Corenswet is going to “f**king blow people away” in his role as Superman. “He is the movie star that everyone just dreams he could possibly be. I don’t think anyone really understands the depth of this guy’s talent dramatically, comedically.”
Corenswet also has physical chops, Gunn added, saying he is the “best physical action star I’ve ever probably worked with.”
Corenswet, 29, is also known for his roles in the TV series Moe & Jerryweather, The Politician, and We Own This City, along with the films Pearl and Twisters.
In addition to Corenswet as Superman, the film features Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Check out the gallery below to see everything we know so far about Superman.
